How to use Scholar's Aid
Library

1. Import from web DB
-
Select the data you wish to import, then click 'Export citations'.
-
And then Select RIS format (ScienceDirect etc. same for all other Web DBs, but incase of PubMed, after Selecting Data, open the ‘Send to ’ Pane, check ‘File’, and then select ’MEDLINE’ Format.
2. Import from online portal site
-
(Example) Google Scholar ! Preferences > Select ‘RefMan’ from Bibliography Manager > Save
-
And then after Searching, Select ‘Import into RefMan’

If the original file is included with the search result, you may also download the original file as an attachment to the imported record or store as text in the 'Notes' module > link

3. Import Excel Data (CSV)
-
If you manage Bibliographic Data with excel, you can import the data into Scholar’s Aid Library ! Cells

In each column must contain the same type of data, for example, Author, Year, Publisher, Title.

Save Excel Data : When exporting as CSV file, inputting the field titles into the first row of the file can make importing and choosing connection items easier.

4. Import Zotero & PDF File
-
Fetch Zotero Materials including the original file.
-
! Zotero's bibliographic information and all attachments to the original file is imported into Scholar’s Aid.

5. Import EndNote Data / Import Refworks Data
In EndNote,
-
Select the records you wish to export
-
And then In Scholar’s Aid Library : File > Import > Selecting RIS format (RIS) and import .txt File
-
Replace RIS extension:
If saved, *.txt file is changed to a *.ris extension, you can open the file in Library by double clicking the file. If the extension is not visible, go to Windows Explorer [Folder Option > View > Hide extensions for known file type]. If this option is checked, uncheck it and the extension will be visible.
In Refworks,
-
Record > Export > Select RefWorks Tagged Format >’Export’, and then In Scholar’s Aid,
-
Library(File Menu) > Import > Select RefWorks Tagged (TXT) > Open Refworks Data,

Save Location & Encoding Type :‘UTF-8’ > ‘OK
6. Exporting Library Record and Import LR Information
-
To send Library Data files to another PC or User, create a RAW Library (.LR) file
-
Differences between Library and Notes modules when importing and exporting: Notes (.sn5) files may be opened from the Notes module directly, however Library (.L3) files must be converted to LR files before opening from another computer.

1. Creating Footnotes

To create personal annotations or footnotes within your note

How to use Footnotes Note ! As a footnote is a comment, the form of a footnote is inserted regardless of the style/output style of the document.
2. Creating Figures & Tables
-
When saving a table, it is saved as an image.
-
If saved as a table note, then table item will be inserted when used in a document.

3. Searching notes

4. Connecting Body & Source

Connect Multi-Sources
You can connect multiple sources in the same way. A note can link to multiple sources. -
If you edit the source information within the Library module, you will need to unlink any links connected to the source from Note records, and then link the source once again.

5. Multiple window feature (Notes module)

Multiple windows of the Notes module can be opened for easier reference to other notes.

To easily find an opened window:
Click the “Go To Float Window” button and select the desired window

Using With Documents
1. Select Citation Format / Output Style
-
Footnote, inner note, Number, Endnote styles used in the document are selected from the word processor. Within the plug-in toolbar in MS Word, click the ‘Re-format’ button, and then Select Style.
-
If you don’t select a Style, the last style used, or the default style will be used.

2. Inserting Citation
-
Body + Source (Move insert)
! Selected Body, Marked Number, Reference has been inserted into the document.

1. Moving from Note Module: Simultaneous insertion move, Note + Full
2. Moving from Library Module: Inserting Source into document, Sources
3. Using Add-on Citation Button : Word Plug-in Button
4. Others : To insert text without sources, or when moving Figure/Table, click the None Button
3. Using Word Plug-In

Word Plug-in Button : Using the Word Plug-in Button, you can change output styles or rearrange citations upon document modifications, and add quotations.

4. To take advantage of manuscript templates
-
Built-in manuscript templates: Scholar’s Aid supports more than 200 manuscript template for academic journals, and over 1,5000 output styles.

Text, mark numbers, references are automatically inserted into the document according to the rules and format of the template.

5. Data backup / Recovery
-
All files can be backed up using the Notes and library modules’ 'Tools' menu > 'Data Backup' function. 'Data Recovery' feature can be used to restore backup data.

Automatic File Backup : When saving, the previous version of the SN5 or L3 file is backed up as “SNB” or “L3B” files.
-
If the SN5 or L3 file is lost, you may restore the last good version by renaming the SNB or L3B file to SN5 or L3. (Path: Program File > SA5 Pro> Notefile, Library)
